Retreat Facilitators
Marina Ramalho
Marina Ramalho is the founder of Joy of Less.
Marina's journey into home organization began during her time as a nanny, where she witnessed firsthand the impact that "stuff" can have on families. Whether it's arguments over messy rooms or financial stress, the accumulation of possessions often leads to increased tension and unhappiness.
It wasn't until she discovered Marie Kondo's best-selling book, _The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up_, that Marina found a solution. The book details the KonMari Method, a step-by-step system for decluttering and organizing that emphasizes keeping only items that spark joy.
In 2016, Marina became one of the first non-Japanese trainees to be certified in the KonMari Method. She trained under Marie Kondo and her senior Japanese trainer, and went on to become the first Canadian and second ever certified consultant outside of Japan. While she stepped away from the KonMari organization , she continues to be inspired by Marie Kondo and her teachings.
In 2018, Marina was recognized as a finalist for the 2018 RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards. Marina's work has been covered in many publications, including Chatelaine, Radio France, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
